Reports to the Director, Insurance Operations & Claims and Director, Group Benefits & Pension, HR
As a result of growth, we are seeking a dynamic and innovative insurance professional to provide leadership in our Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge branch offices and contribute to the attainment of key business objectives by supporting the leadership team.

The Branch Manager will support Commercial Lines, Personal Lines and Group Benefits staff and will be responsible for training, coaching and mentoring to employees to offer our clients exceptional service. The role is also responsible for establishing practices and processes to enhance client service, gain operational efficiencies, increase client retention, and ensure compliance with quality assurance standards.

Key Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Support Senior Management in providing strategic direction for the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge branch offices
  • Manage and increase effectiveness and efficiency of Branch operations and support services
  • Responsible for motivating and monitoring the Commercial and Personal Lines staff, Group Benefits and Pension Customer Service Representatives and Associate Account Managers productivity.
  • Implement administrative and operational policies and practices for the team
  • Conduct internal file reviews in conjunction with the departments audit team to monitor quality of work and to ensure adherence to underwriting criteria and compliance to guidelines and controls.
  • Perform other quality assurance functions, in conjunction with audit team, as needed to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Implement ongoing employee evaluations, training and development activities to ensure service standards are met. Develop and monitor training for all newly hired staff.
  • Ensure underwriting practices and procedures are effectively understood, reinforced, and in compliance (e.g. policy changes, renewals, etc.).
  • Ensure staffing levels are appropriate to meet client needs.
  • Respond to, and document all complaints from clients.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local company representatives, attend appropriate industry functions.
  • Responsible for day to day office management needs (i.e. administration, track department sick/holiday/appointments, parking renewals, liaison for IT and logistical matters)

The key candidate will possess the following:

  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience required
  • Minimum 8 years relevant Commercial Lines insurance or industry related experience
  • University degree, college diploma or equivalent experience required
  • RIBO and Life License required, or willing to obtain
  • CIP, FCIP, CRM and CEBS designations are an asset
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, superior strengths in managing and developing people
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical, organized with time management skills and demonstrates initiative
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to build client and provider relationships
  • Strong communicator at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify and analyze client risk exposures and focus on exceptional customer service
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Class G Drivers License
